EMMA Customer FAQ's

  1. What is EMMA?
    1. EMMA is a mobile payment and credit application service by Unicomer. Customers can use EMMA to apply for credit that can then be used to purchase items at Unicomer and its select third party vendors.
  2. Where is EMMA available?
    1. EMMA is currently only available to residents of Trinidad and Tobago.
  3. What do I need to use EMMA?
    1. An iOS or Android smartphone Access to mobile internet or Wi-Fi (Unicomer stores are equipped with free Wi-Fi)
  4. Where can I use EMMA?
    1. EMMA can be utilized at any Unicomer brand store (Courts, RadioShack, Ashley and Lucky Dollar) and at any of Unicomer’s third party vendors.

  5. What do I need to register for an account?
    1. To register for an EMMA account, you need a valid form of government issued identification (with picture) and a valid mobile phone number
  6. How do I register for an EMMA account?
    1. Download the EMMA app
    2. Select the type of ID that you wish to use to register
    3. Input your valid ID number
    4. Input your telephone number
    5. Input your personal details (if you are a previously registered Unicomer customer, your account details will be automatically populated), including:
      1. Name
      2. Email address
  7. How do I apply for credit using EMMA?
    1. Applying for credit is as easy as clicking the, “Get credit” button on the EMMA Home Screen
    2. You will be prompted to answer a short series of questions after which your application will be processed within 24 hours
    3. Applications require proof of ID, proof of income (in the form of a recent payslip) and proof of address (in the form of a recent utility bill or bank statement)
    4. Proof of income and address should be no older than one month
  8. How can I check the status of my application?
    1. After submitting your application, the Home Screen will indicate that your application is being reviewed.
    2. Once your application has been processed, you will receive an email via your registered email address indicating whether your application has been successful
    3. You will also receive a push notification on your smartphone directing you to log into the app. When you log into EMMA and your Home Screen will display your credit limit
    4. You then select your credit limit and agree to the terms and conditions. Congratulations you can now use your credit limit.
  9. How do I make purchases using EMMA?
    1. EMMA allows anyone to make purchases at any Unicomer brand as well as at select third party vendors.
    2. At Unicomer stores, customers with an approved credit show their CSR the amount of credit approved on their app. The CSR reviews the customers account to verify their credit. The CSR will then proceed to shop with you the customer and then cashes out the customer providing a receipt and allows the customer to receive their purchased item.
    3. At third party vendors, customers with an approved credit line determine how much of their credit they would like to use. They login to the app and select “Buy Now” then scan a QR code at the vendor’s location. The customer confirms their location then selects their payment terms. The app displays a prompt directing them to the cashier or CSR. The CSR then reviews the message, confirms the customer’s identity via any form of valid picture ID and then cashes out the customer providing a receipt and allows the customer to receive their purchased item.
  10. What if I lose my phone?
    1. Contact Unicomer Customer Service at trinidademmasupport@unicomer.com or 800-4222 to have your account disabled so that it cannot be accessed.
  11. What if I forget my pin?

    1. No, EMMA requires an internet connection.

EMMA Merchant FAQ’s

 

  1. What is EMMA?
    1. EMMA is a mobile credit and payment application service by Unicomer. EMMA allows your customers to easily and securely utilize credit facilities to purchase items at your stores. Eligible customers can quickly request funding to purchase items from the convenience of their internet enabled smartphone. Accepting EMMA payments is faster than traditional credit payment methods as it allows customers to secure a credit line from any internet enabled smartphone.
  2. How do EMMA payments work in store?
    1. Customers with an approved credit line determine how much of their credit they would like to use. They login to the app and select “Buy Now” then scan a QR code at the vendor’s location. The customer confirms their location then selects their payment terms.
    2. The app displays a prompt directing the customer to the cashier or CSR. The CSR then reviews the message, confirms the customer’s identity via any form of valid picture ID and then cashes out the customer providing a receipt and allows the customer to receive their purchased item.
  3. How do I start accepting EMMA payments in my store?
    1. To accept EMMA payments in your store, you need to register as a third party vendor with Unicomer.
    2. Registering as a third party vendor requires submission of a completed application form, certificate of incorporation, VAT registration and banking details.
  4. How long does it take to receive payment for a completed transaction?
    1. Merchants will receive payment within 14 business day of Unicomer receiving the original invoice.
  5. Are there any additional fees to accept EMMA?
    1. EMMA payments are subject to the same transaction fees as Unicomer’s Sales Finance program. Merchants are expected to pay a 5% transaction fee per transaction.
  6. Will I be liable for fraudulent transactions on EMMA?
    1. Third party vendors are required to verify the identity of any customer before completing a transaction using EMMA, failure to do so may result in legal action as necessary.
  7. How do I let my customers know they can pay with EMMA?
    1. Third party vendors will receive free promotional materials to display in store alerting customers to their ability to use EMMA.
  8. How do I process returns with EMMA?
    1. The return or exchange policy is determined by the vendor. If you wish to accept customer returns, customer must return the item and be provided proof of return. Their account will then be credited with the value of the item less the 5% administrative fee.
  9. Is there a limit to the transaction amount that customers can use for EMMA in my store?
    1. No, limits are based on the amount of credit available to any particular customer. Customers can spend as much of their limit as they wish.
